“ Physical therapy or physiotherapy (sometimes abbreviated to PT) is the health care profession primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation,diagnosis and physical intervention."

Physiotherapy/Physical Therapy is a health care profession that aims to develop, maintain and restore maximum functional ability throughout life. It helps in restoring normal body function and preventing disability arising from disease, trauma or injury.

When is physiotherapy used?

Physiotherapy can be helpful for people of all ages with a wide range of health conditions, including problems affecting the:

  1. bones, joints and soft tissue-such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and sports injuries .
  2. brain or nervous system–such as movement problems resulting from a stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS) or Parkinson's disease.
  3. heart and circulation–such as rehabilitation after a heart attack.
  4. lungs and breathing–such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis.

Physiotherapy can improve your physical activity while helping you to prevent further injuries.
